About Us

Our Mission - Bringing Joy to Every Bark!

Recognizing the urgent need for compassionate care in our community, we transformed our dog boarding facility into a dual-purpose haven for both boarding and rescue. Initially focused solely on providing a safe and comfortable environment for dogs while their owners were away, we were profoundly affected by the plight of many dogs at high risk of euthanasia. With each story we heard, we became increasingly aware of our responsibility to lend a helping hand. Thus, we shifted our mission to not only care for boarded dogs but also to rescue those in desperate need, offering them a second chance at life. This decision has allowed us to create a welcoming space where every dog, regardless of their past, can find love, care, and a forever home.

Adoptable Dogs

How can I adopt?

🐾 1. Research and Preparation

  • Assess your lifestyle: Determine what type of dog (age, size, energy level) fits your home and schedule.

  • Check out BVAR: Scroll down to view online for available dogs.

  • Prepare your home: Get supplies — bed, food, leash, collar, ID tags, toys, etc.

📄 2. Application

  • Complete an adoption application: Usually in-person. It gathers info about your experience with pets, home environment, and daily routine.

  • Provide references: BVAR may ask for personal or veterinary references.

🏠 3. Screening & Interview

  • Interview: Shelter staff or volunteers may call or meet you to discuss your application and expectations.

  • Home visit (optional): A BVAR staff member may visit your home to ensure it’s a safe environment.

🐶 4. Meet & Greet

  • Meet potential dogs: Spend time interacting with the dog at the kennels.

  • Family introductions: Everyone in your household (including other pets) should meet the dog before finalizing.

5. Approval & Adoption Fee

  • Approval notice: If the match is good, you’ll receive adoption approval.

  • Pay adoption fee: This helps cover vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchipping, and care costs.

📜 6. Adoption Agreement

  • Sign contract: Outlines your responsibilities and BVAR’s policies (e.g., return policy, veterinary care).

🚗 7. Bringing Your Dog Home

  • Transition period: Give the dog time to adjust to new surroundings.

  • Veterinary visit: Schedule a checkup with your vet soon after adoption.

  • Training & bonding: Use positive reinforcement and patience to help your dog settle in.
